What is the difference between Destruct and Destruct Pro?

Destruct was the first edition of the product and was focused on wiping HDDs. We listened to our customer feedback and created Destricy Pro which has many additional features. These include:

  • Easy Boot - A quick and simple way to boot into Destruct Pro without needing to know much about computers and selecting boot devices.

  • Wider Disk Support - Destruct Pro supports HDD, SSD, M.2 and NVMe disks.

  • Smart Wipe Detection - Destruct Pro examines the capabilities of your disks and determines the best wipe technology to use to erase your disks entirely.

Can I use Destruct Pro on a Mac?

While we do not directly support Macs we have had feedback from customers that It can be used on Intel based Macs. You will need to disable Secure Boot in the Mac BIOS for this to work.

For more details on how to do this please see the WikiHow article here: https://www.wikihow.com/Turn-Off-Secure-Boot-on-Mac.

Does Destruct Pro Deliver Reports?

Yes, Destruct Pro created a PDF report for every wipe it performs, even if the wipe fails for some reason. The reports are stored directly on the key.

I get a Win32 error when I try to run the Destruct Pro directly and it is not recognized by the computer as a bootable source when I request a boot off of the USB.

Some older computers have a 32-bit processor. Modern computers are 64-bit. To support the widest range of possible computers Destruct Pro is 64-bit. If your computer is very old, more than 15 years, it will not be able to run the software unfortunately.

How do I erase the disk if I am getting an error while booting?

Some computers have very strict Secure Boot settings. If you get an error while trying to boot from Destruct Pro then you will need to disable Secure Boot in your BIOS. After the disk has been wiped you can safely turn Secure Boot back on again.

Destruct Pro won’t boot on easyboot, how can I get it to work?

If Easy Boot does not work for your computer then you can boot directly from the Key. Follow these simple steps to boot directly from Destruct Pro:

  • Power off your computer

  • Insert Destruct Pro into a USB port

  • Power on your computer and as soon as you see the manufacturer logo press the boot key (This is different for each manufacturer, but is usually one of the following: F1, F9, F10, DEL, ESC or a dedicated button)

  • Select DESTRUCT PRO from the boot menu

  • Let DESTRUCT PRO boot until you see the main screen with your disks listed

  • Go ahead and wipe your chosen disks

My screen says Secure Boot Violation, what do I do?

While Destruct Pro supports Secure Boot on most computers, some manufacturers are very strict and only allow Microsoft operating systems to boot. In this case you can disable Secure boot in the BIOS and run Destruct Pro. After your disk has been wiped you can turn Secure Boot back on.

I followed the instructions, loaded the program, restarted PC. Upon startup, the software runs but when I get to the menu to select Destruct Pro the screen goes black and looks like it might do something but the PC just shuts down.

We have strict quality controls and test our devices before shipping. Unfortunately we have on occasion had problems where devices have become corrupted during shipping. In this case please contact our support for a replacement to be shipped out.
